We just got back from a great week at Point O Vue ... we're trying to remember if this was our fourth or fifth trip over the last several years. Each one is special. Winding Bay was as beautiful as ever, so we spent quite a lot of time swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and just hanging out. We cooked a lot ourselves, with food from the Rock Sound Market, and mostly from the excellent Island Farm. It's a 25 minute drive to the north but the produce is outstanding and the bread (Tuesdays and Fridays) is the best. We did some things that we always do (Tippy's, Leon Levy Nature Preserve) and also explored some beaches that were new to us ... Plum Creek Beach by Deep Creek was spectacular, though the road gives out and you have to walk the last half mile through the mangroves. And we also discovered beautiful Whitelands Beach ... another quite adventurous drive, but just a few miles east of Rock Sound on the Atlantic side. We had great weather, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and super stargazing conditions. The sky at night from the beach is incredible and the no-see-ums seem to have given up by then! Tessa was a big help as always. Cindy Morley rented us a very solid car. Darby made all the logistics of the rental very easy. All in all we had a very happy trip and we will surely be back again before too long.
