Air Travel
Your best first step in getting to Point o’ Vue is to contact owner Darby Harris. She stays up on current routes from Nassau (NAS) including those that are most convenient, cost effective and that come right in to Rock Sound (RSD), which is only 15 minutes from Point o’ Vue, or into Governor’s Harbour (GHB) which is 40 minutes from Point o’ Vue and can work nicely. Major US carriers don’t currently fly into these two convenient airports, though three Bahamian carriers do (see below).
When planning air travel, look for early flights that land in Nassau no later than 2 p.m., as this will allow you enough time to get through customs and connect with afternoon domestic flights to Eleuthera. Most of the major US and Canadian carriers offer competitive airfares to Nassau.
US Airlines

- Delta – connecting through New York (JFK) or Atlanta
- Jet Blue – connecting through Fort Lauderdale
Canadian Airlines
- Air Canada – connecting through Toronto

Bahamas Airlines
From Nassau, you have 3 commercial airlines to choose from for getting to RSD or GHB (we recommend RSD as it’s closer). In order of preference:

All of their websites are easy to use for online booking.
You can also fly into GHB on Silver Air (800-881-4999) from Ft. Lauderdale (FLL). If you’re coming from or connecting through Florida, Bahamasair flies from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Palm Beach into NAS and connects into RSD or GHB. Their website will quote you a through-fare.
There is a third airport on Eleuthera up at North Eleuthera (ELH). We don’t recommend it as it is an hour and 40 minutes away. Knowing this, if you wish to fly into ELH for any reason, contact Darby, who can provide information about car rental or taxi service to Point o’ Vue.
There are also chartered airlines which fly into Eleuthera. Darby can provide information if you wish to pursue that option.
Please note that passports are required for all Caribbean air travellers.

Car Rentals
If you wish to explore Eleuthera at your leisure, a car is essential; there is no public transport on the island. There is taxi service for those who don’t wish to rent a car or don’t drive. Darby can help you arrange a rental car, or you can call house manager Columbus Carey directly at least 2 weeks prior to your arrival to arrange a car. Rates range from $60 to $100 a day on the island and are high due to the 80% import tax levied by the Bahamian government on cars brought into the country. There are no big car rental agencies on the island and rental vehicles are typically older than one would see on the mainland. Columbus will meet you at the airport and direct you to the house. Please note that gas prices in the Caribbean can be at least twice US prices and slightly more than Canadian prices.
